A little shoutout to our Polish Jalops. Wheeler Dealers are doing a FSM Syrena, THE Polish car. Well, maybe next to the Maluch but that was just a FIAT. All non-Polish Jalops should watch it as well, as they can learn something about a car, they probably never have heard about, and probably won't for quite some time. Watch it as long as it's still hot a.k.a hasn't been taken down.

Fantastic little car. Watched about 12 minutes of it and bookmarked it for later. Just so happens I am of Polish descent. Thanks for the post Klaus.

I saw it a few days ago, and to be honeest, it's not a great episode. They bought a reasonably nice car (from 1983, which was the very last year of Syrena's over 26 year production run), even if it was from the middle of nowhere, and from a slightly dodgy looking guy, but they didn't do it many favors.

The steering box they got is most certainly not the last of its sort. They also must have gotten it from a really shady place if the vendor cut the steering column to make the thing easier to ship.. If you buy from shit places you can't really be surpriesd if the parts are far from perfect.

Then there was the radio issue. The Unitra Safari that came with their car (that they mentioned didn't look very authentic) was THE radio in 1980's Poland. I'm not sure what else they expected. Also, it's definitely possible to install one on a car with negative ground, and it doesn't even take much effort to do so. That retro-look thing they got to replace the Unitra looked really terrible too.

And finally there was the awful paint scheme. Did they really have to be so cheesy? In my opinion, they should have kept it in factory yellow. Instead, they made it look like something we call in Poland a 'lubowóz', which means a car that'd been fixed up to drive people to weddings and receptions. Those cars usually have cheesy paintjobs that I guess are supposed to look all nice and fancy, improved interiors, and cheap bling. Red with white accents is a very popular colour scheme to put on a 'lubowóz' too.

What's funny, is that in the end all the mechanical work they had performed could prove to be completely unncessary, since the car was sold to a museum.
